"Neighborhoods": West End, New Orleans, LA
The West End neighborhood was originally a resort built and named "New Lake End." Later, its name was changed to West End. The area was largely built on land reclaimed from Lake Pointchartrain. It is also a seafood and recreational boating area, known for its seafood restaurants. Its more recognizable feature is the New Canal Lighthouse, which was reconstructed after 2005. The seawall is still a popular recreational spot, as is the oak-lined West End Park.
