The French Quarter neighborhood is also known as the Vieux Carré (meaning "old city"). It is New Orleans' oldest neighborhood. It is also called "the Quarter" by locals. It is a unique neighborhood made famous in part by its wonderful architectural details, intricate wrought ironwork, and cast iron balconies. Besides its arthitectural gems, there is much to do, many places to see and many great restaurants, museums, galleries and shops to visit.
