About the Artist

Born at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS and living there for one year, Carol Zehner grew up in New Orleans and has lived in the River Parishes for over 20 years.

Although she displayed artistic ability at an early age, she forged a varied career in both the insurance and graphic design industries after graduating from college. These careers, as well as her degrees in Business Administration and Graphic Design, gave her valuable skills in business, marketing, design and art. Since Hurricane Katrina in 2005, she has focused on pursuing her dream job of becoming a full-time artist and business owner.

Her creativity was always encouraged and nurtured by her parents, who themselves enjoyed making things and completing projects. After painting with acrylics for many years, her preferred mediums are pen and ink, and watercolor. She finds it very exciting to “watch” a drawing become full of details as pen strokes are added. She then strives to create a mood in a drawing by enhancing them with watercolor.

She is a member in good standing with the Louisiana Watercolor Society, Louisiana Landmarks Society, Arts Council of New Orleans, Louisiana Artists Assocation, Westbank Art Guild, and River Parishes Chamber of Commerce. She has attended many watercolor workshops, including Birgit O’Connor, Paul Jackson, Dan Hare, Byron Levy, Annie Strack, and Alan Flattman. She has also enjoyed several drawing and watercolor courses at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Art. She would like to enter her artwork in judged competitions and exhibits. She is looking forward to joining more organizations and attending workshops in the future.
